Get To Know The Mermaid Of Morecambe Bay

Welcome to The Mermaid of Morecambe Bay! My name is Laura and I create coastal jewellery, crafts and art inspired by the beautiful landscapes around me. Each piece is made for those who share my love of the magic of the coast and designed to make you feel a connection to the natural world and your inner mermaid.

I was born and bred in Morecambe Bay, spending much of my time growing up out on the beach. This amazing landscape has inspired me throughout my life, including building a love of nature and leading me to a degree in wildlife conservation, later working for a charity to teach young people about their local environment, our current environmental crises and how to protect our planet.

After the extremely sudden and heart-breaking loss of my beloved dad, I desperately needed a change, control over my own time and priorities and a creative outlet that could bring me some peace during the days. So I made the big decision to pursue building my own small business full time.

The Mermaid of Morecambe Bay aims to spread joy and creativity, whilst also inspiring people to care about their local landscapes and look after nature. I am hugely inspired by the world around me, as well as by folklore and history, which is woven into a lot of what I do.

Each item for sale has been lovingly made by me here in Morecambe Bay, in my little house by the sea, where I live with my fiancé Matt and our Jack Russell Spike.
